2008 Baseball Season in California Comes to a CloseThursday, October 16, 2008 With the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies last night, the professional baseball season in California officially came to an end, as Phillies closed out the best of seven set four games to one. If someone had told me in April that Los Angeles would come to within three games of the World Series, I would have assumed they were talking about the Angels, not the Dodgers. Yet the overachieving Dodgers, who came on strong at the end of the season, made naysayers of those who would have doubted their acquisition of Manny Ramirez and the large contract given to Joe Torre. Of course, those Yankees bashers amongst you (you know who you are) can take delight in the success Torre had after parting ways with Steinbrenner, especially considering the New York didn’t make the playoffs this season. So ends another successful season in California baseball, home to three league champions and two big league division champs. Thank you to all of you who have visited through the season. During the off season, CaProParks.com will continue to bring you updates, news and information. Of course, entries will not be as frequent, but please be sure to check in from time to time. We know you love baseball as much as we do, so suppress your offseason blues with a little news to get you through. Can’t wait ‘til next season… Reader FeedbackThere are no comments yet for this article. Be the first to post!
