Playoff Picture Set

Nine teams from California Set to Begin Postseason

Sunday, August 31, 2008

With only one or two more games left in the minor league season, playoff pictures are set in the Pacific Coast League, California League, and Golden Baseball League.

Pacific Coast League:

The Sacramento River Cats will begin play Wednesday when they host the Salt Lake Bees in a best of five series.  The River Cats will play two games in Sacramento before playing three in Salt Lake City.  The winner of this series will take on the winner of the Iowa/Oklahoma series for the PCL Championship.

California League:

While the South Division has yet to be decided, the North Division is set.  Modesto and Stockton will square off in a best of three series for the right to play San Jose for the North
Division championship.  Meanwhile, Lancaster will get the first round bye in the South as Lake Elsinore will take on either the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes or the Inland Empire 66ers.

Golden Baseball League:

Cross town rivals Long Beach and Orange County will play a five game series beginning Tuesday.  The winner will take on the winner of the battle of Alberta between Edmonton and Calgary for the GBL championship.
