Recreation Park Renovations Get Back Underway

Tuesday, March 11, 2008

After a funding delay and a decision to hold off on many of the grandstand renovations, Recreation Park will be seeing renovations made to the right field area during the upcoming season.  According to Josh Rogol, Director of Broadcasting, the decision to begin construction this month, rather than wait until the end of the season, was based on the need for new bullpens and a new scoreboard.  Most of the work will be done between home stands, but Rogol said fans should be happy to see the work progressing.  “Fans should see the new stadium coming to life and will know what they can look forward to in the 2009 season.”

Work was originally to be completed in two phases, stage one taking place before the 2007 season, and stage two taking place before the 2008 season.  The so called “left field renovations” were completed before the 2007 season, including a new fan dugout suite,  allowing fans a player’s view of the game from the third base line.  The new “right field renovations will include new restrooms, a new entrance, a new concession area, a new merchandise store, new permanent seats, new bullpens, and new player dugouts.

Put on hold are renovations to the grandstand that include a new press box and luxury suites.
