Banner Island Ballpark, The Diamond listed as stops along the 71 day trek compiled by Sports Illustrated.

The June 9 issue of Sports Illustrated, features a three page foldout titled "Endless Summer" by Pablo S. Torre plotting a 71 day, 23-game baseball journey that includes two California stops, Stockton’s Banner Island Ballpark and The Diamond in Lake Elsinore. Stockton’s stop is identified as August 10, while Lake Elsinore’s stop is August 17. No explanation is offered as to why anyone taking the trip would take 7 days to go from Stockton to Lake Elsinore.
Calling Stockton "a cradle of baseball in the 1860’s" as the reputed inspiration for "Casey at the Bat" by Ernest Thayer, SI offers the added benefit of having pro wrestler Sgt. Slaughter on hand at the August 10 to sign autographs. This is the second time in three years Banner Island Ballparks has been listed in Sports Illustrated as a summer desination. Lake Elsinore is noted for its unique logo and for having "perhaps the most idyllic surroundings in the minors."
The 15,997-mile journey, which includes only minor league (or semi-pro) games starts in Fairbanks, Alaska for the Midnight Sun Game on June 21 and crosses the country 3 times before ending in New Orleans on September 1.
