Harden to make his second rehab start.

Monday, May 5, 2008

The Oakland Athletics have announced that Rich Harden will start Tuesday’s night game against the Visalia Oaks.  Harden recently made a rehab start with the Sacramento River Cats, giving up run with three hits and four strike-outs in 3 and 2/3 innings.  He is 1-0 with a 0.82 ERA in 11 innings this season with the Athletics.

Harden has been a regular starter for the A’s, going 15-7 with a 2.92 ERA over the last three seasons, but has struggled with injuries over that time.  Harden’s most recent trip to the DL was the result of a subscapularis strain in his right shoulder.

Harden played half the 2002 season with in the California League with the Visalia Oaks before being promoted to AA Midland (Texas League) midseason.  He made his major league debut in 2003.
