Visalia extends PDC with D-Backs

Team will be Arizona affiliate through 2012.

Friday, April 23, 2010

The Visalia Rawhide announced that they have extended their Player Development Agreement (PDC) with the Arizona Diamondbacks.  The new agreement extends Visalia's affiliation through the 2012 season.  The Rawhide have been the D-Backs affiliate since 2007.

"We're thrilled with our affiliation with the Visalia Rawhide and the City of Visalia," Diamondbacks Director of Player Development Mike Berger said. "We have been witness to continual improvements to the facility and the operations in each of our four years here. We are excited to extend our relationship at this early date with both the ballclub and the wonderful community of Visalia."

Visalia has been somewhat of turnstile for Major League affiliations.  Most big league teams were not satisfied with the team's facilities, and only agreed to the affiliation when no other option was available.  That meant most teams did not renew their agreements.  With improvements to Recreation Park, Arizona's relationship with the team has solidified. The announcement of a new PDC on April 23 is the earliest Visalia has secured an extension in over 20 years.
