Golden Baseball League loses Long Beach Armada

Tijuana to enter league for 2010

Friday, January 15, 2010

The Long Beach Armada will not be a part of the 2010 Golden Baseball League.  The Tijauna Cimarrones and the St. George Roadrunners will, according to the GBL 2010 schedule released today.  The Armada, who have been in the league since its first season in 2005 were unable to maintain their Blair Field lease with the City of Long Beach.  The parting of Blair Field and the Armada is widely believed to be a result of the city’s arrangement with California State University Long Beach to take over daily operations of the stadium.  With the release of the 2010 Golden Baseball League schedule, any hope for an Armada team to play this season have now ceased.  On Wednesday, the Chico Outlaws introduced former Long Beach Armada skipper Garry Templeton as their manager.
