JetHawks Announce New Skipper

SoCal Native to Lead New Astros Affiliate

Friday, December 5, 2008

The Lancaster JetHawks announced the hiring of Wes Clements as their manager.  Clements, who will lead the team in its first year as a Houston Astros affiliate, has been a hitting coach in the Milwaukee Brewers, Los Angeles Angels, and most recently the Chicago White Sox farm systems.   Clements only professional managerial experience has been in Mexico.

The Southern California native will have a lot of local fans. Clements attended Hawthorne High and played baseball for El Camino Junior College before transferring to the University of Arizona.  A sixth round draft pick by the Astros, Clements spent 11 years playing in the minors, working his way as high as Triple-A.  He spent three seasons as the head coach of Calabasas High School south of Lancaster.
