Ports Name New Manager


Darren Bush promoted to Double-A

The Stockton Ports introduced Aaron Nieckula as the new manager for the 2009 season, replacing Darren Bush who was promoted to the Athletics Double –A farm team in Midland.  Nieckula compiled a 214-202 record in three seasons managing the A’s Single-A Kane County Cougars.  He will inherit the 2008 California League champions, who should have a solid squad of prospects for the 2009 season.

Also announced was the new pitching coach, Don Schulze, also formerly of the Kane County.  Tim Garland will return as the Ports hitting coach.  Also returning is team trainer is Brian “Doc” Thorson.
